ParticipantHi Robert, I think chucking “race car J2X lemans K2” into the title is click bait. It’s not easy to tell what on the chassis hasn’t been changed, so hard to interpret exactly. I’m sure someone more knowledgeable will tell us.
Observations would be: the front cross member has been replaced; front axle beams have spring pans that look original so could be P but I guess could be K2; telescopic damper towers suggest P but could be K2; engine mount look like P (and M which it is unlikely to be because of damper towers); the front radius arm mountings have been removed with a lash up side mounted rose jointed rod (strikes fear but then I’m no racer!); king pins do not have top suitable for mounting to bottom of damper; no rear mounting holes for lever arm shocks on either side but these could have been welded up, both P and K2 have lever arms (although some were provided with telescopics I understand); the welding of the boxing inside chassis, forward of the rear cross member is intermittent which we’ve seen on many Allard chassis; the brake pipe clip on the drivers side rear chassis kick-up is Allard; rear radius arms have been adapted to fit new axle and front mounting likely to have been adapted; rear-most cross member has been removed.
I’m sure there are many other observations that could be made by others more knowledgeable than me. If it had proven race provenance I guess it might be worth a bit but in pure parts terms or even likelihood of getting it functioning as a race car it seems a stretch at $15k. Now we’ll probably discover it’s a famous race chassis and I’ll look stupid….. If it were in the UK advertised as is, I’d think it might get interest at £150 but £15,000 might be a stretch. There are few obvious pieces of value left to salvage, but I guess if you had a rusty chassis you could find some repair sections. The “lightened” cruciform could definitely be patched and made whole again.

ParticipantBen, depending on the gold model you have, they appear to run at a max of 8psi and as low as 2psi. From your video I can see that Jim has fitted a pressure regulator on the bulkhead so that is probably keeping fuel to the carb below 3psi. I’ve run facet pumps on lots of different cars and they always run continuously as far as I am aware. Useful on a race car to hear it working, but maybe you need a little more insulation as well as the cotton reel rubber feet they come with? Once the bodywork is on and sound insulated I’m sure you won’t hear a thing…..

ParticipantI had an email exchange with the MAC Classic organisers today and this morning (Wednesday 19th January) there were 3 spaces left for starting at the Burford House Garden Centre.

ParticipantOnly Mel and James so far as I am aware. Is there anyone else interested so I can see if there is a suitable local hotel and whether I can get a reduction in the B&B daily rate?

ParticipantThe M Type has been on sale for a good few months and we’ve had more interest in it as a spares provider rather than a complete car. One or two contacts from abroad but unfortunately nothing has progressed so far.
The picture below shows the K chassis in its shot blasted state ready for powder coating which should be completed later this week .
Jon Langley’s future son-in-law (Stuart) is an MOD certificated welder, who TIG welds chassis part time for a company near Radstock called Caged Laser Engineering Ltd( https://www.cagedlaser.co.uk/ )
They have a chassis sized shot blasting container and we locked Jon in it on Sunday morning until he finished stripping the chassis.
Caged are responsible for Caterham, Westfield and many other car company roll cages and chassis. They also produce chassis for this company:

You too could own a Revival 250 and here is an article explaining just how reasonably priced they are: https://www.carscoops.com/2021/11/gto-engineerings-1m-250-swb-is-the-ferrari-classic-you-can-crash-and-not-care/
An F40 Revival might also happen in the future, so maybe keep your piggy bank close for now? Caged do all sorts of fabrication, but their mainstay appears to be cages and half cages for all manner of track day and racing moderns. I did see jigs for Minis and Mark 2 Escorts which I guess the rally brigade buy through 3rd parties never knowing who actually makes them. Caged can do all sorts of fabrication, so if you need something they might be able to help.We hope to have the K1 on a rolling chassis in the coming month or so and will then advertise it on here and elsewhere for someone to take it to completion.

ParticipantWell at £69,995 it’s better value than it was at £99,995. If Hexagon have reduced it that much, maybe there’s opportunity for an even lower offer? Compared to many resto type cars, even being a LHD, it seems a lot of car if you could get it closer to £50k?

ParticipantIt’s a problem Morris Minor owners solve and I have used a kit for a Moggy similar to this one on eBay:
Having fitted it in future I’d replicate using quality components. Getting a good seal on the master cylinder cap and the new fitting is important but I’m sure there are elegant solutions that would connect to the pipe to the master cylinder cap without the plastic pipe heading straight up. On the Morris the floor was too close to allow a sweep for the plastic pipe and I used plastic right angle joiner onto a short piece of pipe to make it work better.
