Build: May 1939
Lush says FXP470 was completed in May 1939 to the order of VSA Biggs, a local Dentist and motoring enthusiast (seemingly no relation to HL Biggs who features frequently in Allard history).

Very little direct information is available about this car, so I’m assuming it follows the general specifications outlined in the Sales Brochure of 1939 for 4 seater V8 cars.
Chassis
- 8’6 1⁄2″ wheelbase with front track 4’8″ and rear track 4’2 1⁄2″.
Steering and brakes
- Marles High ratio steering box. Cable brakes on all four wheels and a fly-off handbrake.

- Ford 3 speed box and rear axles with 4.11 ratio.
Engine
- Ford V8.
Body
- 4 seater “new look” bodywork with spats covering the rear wheels.
A better picture is given by the for sale advert by Continental Cars in 19461 which says:
“ALLARD 2-4-seater, one of the best looking cars in the country, 7,500 miles only, finished in metallic grey with grey hide upholstery and grey mohair hood, hood bag and zip tonneau cover, complete side screens and detachable side windows, enclosed rear wheels, dash and bulkhead engine turned finish, special V8 unit, mirror polished heads, all accessories plated and polished, raised compression, flywheel lightened, scintilla magneto, electric and mechanical petrol pumps, hydraulic brakes: this car is in new condition throughout, and has had no use in trials at all; it is ready to use either as a fast road car or in the coming season’s trials; £1,450”.
HISTORY
This very attractive car seems hardly to have been used. Presumably Biggs put on most of the 7,500 miles in the few months between delivery in May 1939 and the early months of the war after which private mileage became very restricted. Despite Continental Garages’ assurance it had never been used in trials there are a couple of references which may indicate such use pre-war.
WHERE IS IT NOW?
I have found no references to the car following the advert at Continental Cars in August 1946.
