    Where should I look for the engine number on an early Ford Flathead V8 ? I Have looked on the back of the block on the cast area of the bell housing. I think its a 1948 UK engine.

    on my 1938 21 stud flathead it was on the near side, top of the block at the back.  See attached picture, the bulkhead is on the right (you can see the washer bottle)

    Many thanks Ben. Look like a trip out to the garage tomorrow morning for me. Just been looking at the photos of you special in the Tailwagger I hope you are able to keep the rebuild close to that fast back design. Great project.

    I hope so too, I’m going to try and keep it as close to the original design as I can
