Another update...quite a big one too. Last week I changed the oil in my gearbox.  Here's what it SHOULD look like, vs what it DID look like when I drained it; clearly (excuse the pun) something wrong. new gearbox oilold gearbox oil So I changed the oil.  Twice. Now the clicking noise has stopped, but I don't know whether it's just me listening extra carefully or actually a symptom of there being water in the oil, but it definitely sounds noisier.  I will drive it for a bit and see if it settles, then update some more on here. Any suggestions as to how the water might have got into a brand new gearbox though would be very welcome. Here is the spec of the gearbox in case anyone is interested: Tremec / BorgWarner T5 Serial: 1352 251 17757 (Ford 1993-prior Mustang 5.0 V8 World Class) Case marking is 1352 065 922 M but probably irrelevant. The rear section of the box has a plated stamped with MDL (Modern DriveLine) and marking: MD-510-1000 Gear ratios: 2.76, 2.95, 1.94, 1.34, 1.00, 0.63
