NEC Classic Motor Show 2023

Some 71,000 punters took in the 2023 NEC Classic Motor Show over its three days. It all happened over 10-12 November under AOC NEC shows leader Jon Langley.

The stand with a sports theme looked very smart when I arrived early on Friday morning. With a sporty theme, the ex-Len Potter J1 of James Smith looked the part and with the Evans’ mighty J2XLM contrasting in style how things had moved on in 7 years. It was good to see Simon Taylor on the stand early on the Friday afternoon – he knew the ex-Len Potter J1 in the 60s when it was owned by a flatmate. He was joined by Josh Sadler and later Jim & Sheila Tiller for a picture shoot. Jim Tiller then spent the afternoon drawing pictures as only he can.

We had Row Dowle’s K representing a type that was rallied and also took part in the Goodwood AOC meetings in the early 50s. The icing on the cake was Roger Hayes’ 1064 Dragon Mk2 dragster, there was only one other dragster I spotted at the show and this certainly filled a void for enthusiasts, particularly as you don’t see many historic dragsters about anyway.
