This is my initial few days with my new to me Allard. I am saying goodbye to my 1978 Fiat 124 spider which is running and driving. I have one other classic, a Mini ‘Italian Job’ from 1993 but some would say fortunate position of having three Healey boats, two Aquacrafts (similar to Healey) and four other boats that I have built from scratch in various states of completion. This causes me to have inside storage problems, I expect I am not alone in this predicament. practically this means I have to get the Allard away in a space reserved for my Fiat, it is too tall!! and just about on my limits of width and length.

By the way, the title P1 A is what it is on the V5, no idea why. I’m posting this with no pics while I work out how to do it

Has 2 batteries, one either side? 6 volt, 12 volt?

Mine was 6v Steve, but I think most people convert to one 12v battery.  I also made a plastic (fibre glass) box for my battery to save any risk of catching your spanner against the metal when undoing the cable clamps.

Looks like you’ve got your work cut out there with some of that woodwork, I’ll look forward to seeing it take shape.

I’ll probably make a wooden battery box Ben. Yes, the woodwork is in a terrible state but my metalworking friend says the rusty sheet work is generally in reasonable condition thankfully. We took the windows out and then I made the call to remove the roof!!

The decision wasn’t taken lightly, two things, firstly I couldn’t fit the car into my storage space height wise, secondly there were no wooden pillars left connecting the roof to the body. I did scribe some marks into the rear incision for future roof re-alignment.
